RCB vs DD, IPL 2018: Kohli vs Gambhir and Chahal vs Maxwell, here are the battles to watch out for
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils are both with two points, after one win in four matches, but separated by just net run rate. Both have a good batting line-up, but poorly supported by bowling anomalies. However, what will surely light up the Chinnaswamy track is the battle between the two skippers - Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli.

New Delhi: The match tonight at M Chinnaswamy stadium can be termed as the battle between two strugglers in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League.

In the absence of Gayle, struggling Daredevils will have to focus entirely on Kohli, who is the orange-cap holder and on De Villiers who has been exceedingly consistent on Chinnaswamy track against Delhi. Their dismal bowling performance has led to twice their opponents reaching the 200-figure. RCB, who have also lost three games this season and are loitering at the bottom of the table, have a lot to do with their bowling attack which has an abysmal figure in the deaths.

Going by head-to-head stats, nothing separates the two at this venue, although by overall numbers, RCB have a record to boast of. They have won 11 matches against Delhi, all coming off after 2011, while the latter have scalped just six wins in all of 17 matches.

Here are the two battles to watch out for during the Indian Premier League fixture between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium tonight...

1) Virat Kohli versus Gautam Gambhir:

Probably more than the name of the two franchises, it will be Kohli versus Gambhir that will highlight Saturday evening at Bengaluru. With Gambhir having shifted his base to Delhi Daredevils after long and a successful stint with Kolkata Knight Riders which witnessed the Delhiite leading them to two IPL victories, head-to-head captaincy stat will not be available. However, the battle between the two IPL batting maestros can be clearly and mostly highlighted with their stats based on prowess with the willow.

In 19 matches against RCB over the last 10 seasons, Gambhir has scored 644 runs at a decent average of 33.39 and strike rate of 136.73. The run tally which includes six fifty-plus scores in all and highest score of 93, is also the most scored by a batsman in IPL against the Bengaluru franchise. Kohli, on the other hand, has been at his ruthless best against the Daredevils with 644 runs in 16 matches at an astonishing average of 73.44. The tally includes seven fifties with a highest of 99 runs against Delhi in 2013.

2) Glenn Maxwell versus Yuzvendra Chahal:

If Kohli versus Gambhir can be termed as an intense battle, then Maxwell's battle against Chahal can be said to be a rather amusing one.

How many of you remember Australia's tour of India in September 2017? It was a limited-overs series and India had comfortably won the ODI series 4-1. But that isn't the point of mention here. The series will surely bring back memories of that little contest between Maxwell and Chahal where the Aussie batsman struggled to stick to the wicket against the latter's leg-spin action. In fact, Chahal had dismissed him four times in five matches out of 18 deliveries that he bowled to Maxwell, conceding just 14 runs. In IPL, Chahal picked him twice in 22 deliveries at the expense of 20 runs.
